Once a team consensus is reached on an issue's estimate, it's common practice to record this agreed figure in a Jira custom field, commonly referred to as the 'estimation field'.

For effective issue estimation in Agility Poker Planning for Jira Cloud, it’s imperative that the estimation field is properly set up and applicable for the intended issue types. The non-appearance of specific issues like bugs or tasks in Agility Poker Planning for Jira suggests a requirement to incorporate the estimation field (for instance, Story Points) into these issue types.

In Team-managed projects, estimates can be recorded in available time fields or any numeric field, including the Story point estimate field.

Setting Up the “Story point estimate” Numeric Field

For Team-managed projects in Jira, it’s advisable to use the built-in "Story point estimate" field for displaying estimates on boards. This field, unlike other numeric custom fields specific to Team-managed projects, is common across all such projects, providing a uniform approach across the organization.

To set up the Story point estimate field for board and Agility Poker Planning estimates:

1. Access your project, navigate to Project settings > Features.

2. Activate the Estimation toggle, ensuring Story Points is the chosen option.

By enabling this, the Story point estimate field becomes active in the Context fields settings for all standard issue types (found in Project settings > Issue types > Issue type > Context fields). This setting can be tailored as needed.

In Agility Poker Planning, when initiating a session, choose the Story point estimate field as your estimation field during session setup (Agility Poker Planning > Create session > step three for all sessions) or in the configuration (Agility Poker Planning > Join Session > Configure > Session settings > Estimation field).

If opting for a different field for saving estimates, you can add a numeric field to the issue type via Project settings > Issue types, and set this new field as your estimation field using similar steps.

To ensure compatibility of the Original estimate field with Agility Poker Planning, include both Original estimate and Time tracking in the Context fields list for your estimable issue types.

Typically, activating the Estimation feature in Project Settings (Project settings > Features > Estimation) automatically adds the necessary fields to the Context fields list for standard issue types.
