π§° Basic Features & Session Tools
SprintRetro gives you all the tools to collaborate, reflect, and take action - with a bit of fun along the way.
This section covers everything you can do once you're inside the board: from adding sticky notes and reactions, to assigning action items and wrapping up the session.
βοΈ Creating Items on the Board
Adding an item to the board is as simple as clicking the β+ Add Itemβ button in any retrospective column.
Each item supports:
Standard Text: Add a thought, observation, or idea.
GIFs: Click the image icon to add a GIF - choose from trending, search, or reactions.
Comments: Click the comment icon to start a discussion on any item. Comments also support GIFs and emojis.
Reactions: React to any item using emojis - a lightweight way to express agreement, support, or fun.
Kudos: Celebrate wins by sending Kudos for:
Achievement
Teamwork
Innovation
Support

Note: Items also support posting as annoymous if users want to post without being identified.
β Creating and Assigning Actions
You can create an action item directly from any retro item by clicking the action icon. This will:
Create a linked action card in the Actions column
Retain context and traceability
Make it visible to all participants
Actions created here will also be carried over to your next session if still open.
π³ Voting on Items
Each participant is given a limited number of votes (set by the moderator).
You can distribute your votes however you like - all on one item, or spread across many.
Votes are anonymous and help prioritize what matters most to the team.
The vote count appears on each card, and you can use the Filter to sort by "Most Voted."
π§ Editing, Moving, and Organizing Items
Edit or Delete: Creators and moderators can edit or remove items at any time.
Move Across Columns: Drag and drop any item to a new column.
Reorder Within Column: Change item position based on importance.
β Note: Grouping items (stacking items together) is not currently supported - but is coming soon!

π Wrapping Up the Session
Once your retrospective is complete, the moderator should close the session:
Go to the Settings menu and select Close Session
This locks the board - no more editing, voting, or new item additions
All open Action Items will migrate forward into your next retrospective by default
β You can always reopen the session later if you need to revisit or revise anything.
